FAQs

  • Currently, CMC is not offering ADHD testing.

  • Counseling/Psychotherapy sessions will unfold in various stages. As many of the clients may experience when meeting new people or visiting professional offices, anxiety might occur and make you think “what am I going to say? What if I don’t give enough information about me?” I hear you and understand it can feel uneasy and uncertain.

    However, I will take the role as the driver of this road trip for the initial session. In the first session, I will be walking you through important housekeeping regarding policies for legal/ethical practice, scheduling, etc. and asking you questions to get to know you, your history, and your goals. Therapy place is supposed to be a non-judgmental and emotionally safe space where you freely talk about yourself, tap into your inner world, and identify what makes sense and works for your life.

    Follow-up sessions will consist of actively working on processing stressors, strategy/skill implementation, discussion on progress, ongoing assessments of your counseling needs, and revision of your goals and focus as needed.

    Now, while I can be walking alongside your current of the life in the sessions, you can reflect on our discussions, go through trial and error, and pinpoint effective ways for your healing process outside of our sessions. This will happen both organically and intentionally.

    You may also receive some resources via email from me here and there. This is so that you can remember and implement what relevant information you and I discussed, in a way that makes sense to you. This can be an amazing piece of asset in your life for your emotional and social needs.

  • I believe that no experiences are the same and will be healed by cookie-cutter approaches and that’s why I use holistic and eclectic approaches depending on the clients’ needs. However, I do incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based techniques. CBT interventions are based on some core principles that encompass thoughts (cognitive), actions (behaviors), and feelings (emotions);

    I may guide with questions for you to explore your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, but I may also use psychoeducation, hands-on activities and homework assignments as needed.

    Within the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy family, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Exposure Therapy, and other modalities reside. Cognitive Behavioral based techniques have been proven to be helpful with various types of mental health struggles from depression to a personality disorder as well as for people from various cultures (e.g. different age groups).

    You can read more about it on PsychologyToday’s article on CBT.

  • Yes! All the therapy interventions and techniques I will pull from various modalities are evidence-based, meaning research showed they have been effective and have brought positive outcome when implemented correctly. However, counseling process is a collaborative one where you, as a client, can also provide feedback after being introduced to interventions.
