Counseling and psychotherapy sessions typically unfold in various stages. It's common for clients to feel anxious when meeting new people or visiting a professional office, thinking, "What am I going to say? What if I don’t share enough about myself?" I understand this feeling, and it's completely normal to feel uneasy and uncertain.
For the first session, I’ll take the lead, guiding you through the initial steps. We’ll go over important housekeeping details, such as legal and ethical policies, scheduling, etc., while I ask questions to better understand you, your history, and your goals. Therapy is meant to be a non-judgmental, emotionally safe space where you can freely explore your thoughts, tap into your inner world, and identify what resonates with you and works for your life.
In follow-up sessions, we’ll actively process stressors, implement strategies and skills, discuss progress, assess your ongoing needs, and revise goals as necessary.
While I walk alongside you during sessions, you’ll also have opportunities to reflect on our discussions, experiment with new strategies, and discover what works best for your healing process outside of our time together. This process will unfold both organically and intentionally.
Additionally, I may send you resources via email from time to time. These will help reinforce what we’ve discussed and support you in implementing relevant insights in ways that make sense for you. These resources can be a valuable asset to your emotional and social well-being.

I believe that no two experiences are the same, and healing cannot be achieved with cookie-cutter approaches. That's why I use holistic and eclectic methods tailored to each client’s unique needs. However, I do incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, which are grounded in core principles that connect thoughts (cognitive), actions (behaviors), and feelings (emotions).
I may guide you with questions to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and I might also use psychoeducation, hands-on activities, and homework assignments as needed.
Within the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework, there are several modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Exposure Therapy. CBT-based techniques have been proven effective for a wide range of mental health challenges, from depression to personality disorders, and are beneficial for people of various ages and cultural backgrounds.

Yes! All the therapy interventions and techniques I use are evidence-based, meaning they have been proven effective through research and have shown positive outcomes when implemented correctly. However, the counseling process is collaborative, and your feedback is essential. As a client, you’ll have the opportunity to provide input after being introduced to various interventions, ensuring the approach works best for you.
